Therefore, Apple does much good things. The combo of Apple TV and iTunes offers an environment "just works" that many people seem to like. So why you have problems to get their video content? Recent market of the NPD Group research shows that Apple's iTunes video delivery is in a tie for third in the single market share of 4%, three while Netflix is the way to go in 61 per cent and Comcast is second at 8%.
Apple has been in the business of video since 2006; in 2008, they began to offer the rental, which seemed to help a little; and in 2010, iTunes began to carry $0.99 to rental of television programmes. Should this recipe have their numbers slightly above 4%, correct, given its dominant position in the music industry? As iTunes and Apple TV do in a convenient way of media synchronization over the network for people who hold, it is also much more convenient to use Netflix in one of the many transmission devices out there. This, of course, is due to the expansion of Netflix streaming boxes like Boxee and Roku and offering playback on three of the big game systems. Still do physical rental, but that it is declining for transmission.
What is even more interesting is that Netflix transmission does not even have the best selection of movies, but people love anyway. The survey found that the clients know iTunes has more up-to-date content, but the convenience of Netflix placed higher in terms of "global shopping experience" and "value for price paid". Once again, it is comfort. It makes no sense to make someone buy an Apple TV if they have any game system, even though Apple has lowered the price to $99.
To enable Apple to succeed, they need that it makes sense that someone will use the iTunes store, and that it will not happen unless they open more devices, as did Netflix. But I think we all know that it is not likely to happen.
